The Guild
The Guild allows ladies and gentlemen to meet on a regular basis fortnightly from October to April. There is a warm fellowship and friendship and a varied programme on a theme with many interesting speakers. All meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend, both ladies and gentlemen.
The Guild's
new three-year strategy for 2009-12 is "to
act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8).
The theme for 2010-11 is "Called
to walk humbly with God".
The Guild nationally also supports six charities over the same three-year period and at Blackhall we have chosen two of these for the coming year which we feel are relevant to this year's theme:
1. "A Place for Hope"
This is under the auspices of the Church of Scotland's Ministries Council. The Council is looking to establish a Centre for Reconciliation and Peacemaking - A Place for Hope - in Scotland, through which churches can begin to re-establish their role within society as peacemakers and healers. Conflict is an inescapable part of life, whether in Church or in wider society and "A Place for Hope" will bring individuals, congregations and communities to resolve their differencies and restore relationships.
2.. "Mission Run Madagascar" - a project of Mission Aviation Fellowship.
Madagascar is the world's fourth largest island, but is also one of the poorest. Travel ismeasured in days and weeks rather tha minutes and hours.
Lack of infrastructure makes travel difficult for organisations trying tohelp people physically and spiritually.
For more information on these projects, have a look at the Guild section on the Church of Scotland website.

Pilgrimage to
The 2011 General Assembly of theChurch of Scotland urged all members of the Church of Scotland to invest in "Peace for Palastine and Israel" The Wold Mission Council and the Guild are together supporting the Interfaith Action which has Christian, Jewish and Muslim elements. The Christian Community in Israel andPalastine, which traces its origins to the first Day of Pentecost wants to meet yoy face to face. your presence and interest is a precious support.
We will visit the Guild-supported initiatives and see the commitment of local people to an independant future, make visits to the work of the Church of Scotland and its partners, as well as visit some of the historic sites of Jesus's ministry.
