Kirk Session: Anyone with reports for circulation with the papers for the October meeting should submit them to the Session Clerk/Church Office no later than Sunday, 1st October.  Thank you.

Minister’s Vestry Hours: Rev Benjamin Abeledo will be in the Vestry every Wednesday 10am-12 noon and he will be pleased to see anyone who wishes to speak with him.

Craft Coffee Morning: The WATCH Committee and friends are holding the annual Craft Coffee Morning on Saturday 7th October from 10.00 am to 12 noon. Tickets, priced at £3.00 for adults and £1.00 for children over 5, are available at coffee after this service or on the day. Proceeds this year are going to Clowndoctors and Building for the Future. Donations of home baking, garden produce and hand–crafted items such as knitting, jewellery and jam would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Harvest Service Sunday 1 October Food Donations: You are invited to bring to the Harvest Service donations of non-perishable foodstuffs to be shared between the FreshStart and Edinburgh North East Foodbanks. These will be much appreciated. Thank you. (While all your gifts will be welcome NE Edinburgh Foodbank’s website currently shows a need for tinned fruit (400gms), steamed puddings and tinned rice pudding, UHT milk (I litre), sugar (1kg), tinned meat and breakfast cereals. They are well supplied with packets of pasta, tins of beans and soup).

Tuesday Topics: Our first meeting is on the 26th Sept at 7.30pm in the
Small Hall
. Our speaker is to be Sir Geoff Palmer and his topic is Scottish Caribbean Historical Connections.

Sing Aloud Praise Group: will next meet on Wednesday 27th September at 7.30pm in the church. Everyone is welcome to come along and sing or play an instrument with us. For more information contact. Marge Whiteside at whiteside32@btinternet.com.

 

Community Bible Experience: We hope to start this way of reading the Bible together through “Home-groups” which will include one home-group at the Manse on Wednesday, 27th September 7.30-9.00pm, another at the home of Rev. Mary Morrison (Monday evenings 7.30-9.00pm) and the home of  Rev. Bob & Mrs Doreen Barker (Monday 2pm). If you are interested in joining us, please write your name down the list which is up on the Noticeboard in the hall. Copies of each book to accompany the Home Groups are £5 each and can be collected and paid for at the Church Office. 

Fresh Start: This month we are in particular need of small electrical packs (i.e. small lamps, kettles, toaster and irons) and shampoo and shower gels for our toiletries packs.

Classical Guitar and Choral Music: Enjoy an Evening of Classical Guitar and Choral Music with Ayman Jarjour, acclaimed Syrian guitarist, and the Choir of St. Andrew’s and St. George’s West Church on Friday 29th September 2017, 7.30-9.30 p.m. St. Andrew’s and St. George’s West Church, 13 George Street, Edinburgh. Tickets £20, £15 (over 60’s/disabled), £10 (under 16s). A light buffet (Palestinian food), wine and soft drinks, included in the price. The concert is in aid of Palcrafts, a charity that aims to reduce poverty in Palestine by selling Palestinian goods in its Fair Trade shop, Hadeel. The Bible Study Group: will be on Monday, 25th September - 2pm at Apartment 3, 2 Barnton Grove, (the home of Doreen & Bob Barker).  If you would like to attend and have not yet advised the Barkers, please ring  0131 339 6010.

Building for the Future The Minister and the Steering Committee are keen to receive feedback and/or questions from the congregation. Please could these in writing either handed in to the Church Office or by email to BStC.Building4Future@gmail.com  All comments will be considered and questions will be passed on to the Steering Committee for consideration.

Sunday Prayer Meetings: Every Sunday at 10-10.30am in the small hall. Everyone is welcome.

FIRST AID BOXES (2)

The first box is located in the front vestibule of the church beside the wheel chair. It now contains a dressings box. The second box is located in the ladies cloakroom, opposite the kitchen. The associated dressings box can be found in a kitchen cupboard clearly marked.
