Minister’s Vestry Hours: Rev Benjamin Abeledo will be in the Vestry every Wednesday 10am-12noon and he will be pleased to see anyone who wishes to speak with him.

Sunday Prayer Meetings: Every Sunday at 10-10.30am in the small hall. Everyone is welcome.

FUNERALS

  • The funeral for the late Mr Peter Wright Dundas, who sadly died aged 88 years, will be held at Warriston Cloister Chapel on Friday November 24 at 11.30am.
  • The funeral for the late Mr Harry Major Jones will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at 2pm. It will be in the Lorimer Chapel at Warriston.

 

ECO Congregation Scotland Invites you to attend a presentation by
Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, a well known evangelical Christian and climate scientist, on “Facing the reality of a changing climate”. The event is at CCE The King’s Hall 41a South Clerk Street Edinburgh EH8 9NZ starting at 7pm and finish approx 8.30pm. Free Entry

Fresh Start: Fresh Start are currently short of dinner plates, small electrical items and dusters.

Crossreach: Christmas Cards and Calendars will be on sale in the large Hall after morning service during the month of November. Your support of this vital arm of the Church’s work will be Much Appreciated Margaret Brown Church Link

Remembrance Service: Thanks to all who gave generously and we are pleased to report that a total of £512.11 was raised in aid of Poppy Scotland.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal We are delighted to announce that we filled 230 (112 girls and 118 boys) shoeboxes this year. A huge thank you to everyone who has participated this year. Adrian Johnston

Burns Supper 27th January 2018 will be held in the Holiday Inn, Edinburgh City West, reception from 6.30 p.m. with supper, including menu choice, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. or later. A stunning cast of B.St.C talent has been engaged to entertain us and as tickets (£30) sold out before so you should make sure you book yours now from a member of the Stewardship Team or the Church Office. All are welcome.

Tuesday Topics: The next meeting on 21 November in the small hall at 7.30pm. Lost Edinburgh with Simon Green. Visitors welcome

Family Movie Night: Saturday 25th November 2017. 6pm for 6:30pm start. Entry by donation - Popcorn and drinks provided

Sing Aloud, our Praise Group: Our next date is Wednesday 29th November at 7.45 pm in the small hall.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

Saturday 2nd December 2017 at 2.00 pm

 

Proceeds to Clowndoctors project which is part of Hearts and Minds Charity (SC027040) and Building for the Future. Stalls include Books, Bottle,
Bric-a-Brac, Baking, Cards and Crafts, Hampers, Light and Bright, Fashion Accessories, Sweets, Teas, Tombola, and Toys.

Hampers: Donation envelopes are available at coffee and the Church Office; please return completed envelopes to the box in the Office. Donations to fill hampers and baskets would be gratefully received. Please bring them to the Office or to Ann Wood (312 6730)

Light and Bright: the Church Office stall. Last year we were very grateful for the many items you donated and would be pleased to receive new bright coloured items such as candles, mugs, coasters, Christmas items etc. Similar used items should be donated to the Bric-a-Brac stall.

Fashion Accessories: We are looking for new or good as new (clean and in good condition) fashion accessories (gloves, scarves, hats, handbags, ties cufflinks, etc). Please see Christine Denham or the Church Office.

Tombola stall:  Thank you to everyone for your wonderful support last year and we will be very grateful to have your help this year with any unwanted new items for the stall, please look at home and ask your family and friends for donations.

Prize Draw envelopes asking for a £5 donation for the possibility of winning: Lunch for Two at Martin Wishart, a voucher from La Bruschetta Restaurant or Afternoon Tea for Two at Colonnades Restaurant at the Signet Library are available on Sundays after the service, from the Church Office, on the shelf by the door to the halls or by contacting Rosi Watt 332 4027 Jacquie Lowe 315 3375 or Jess Park 332 3863. 

Toy stall: We would be very grateful for contributions for the Toy stall. It would be appreciated if donations could be clean and complete and where appropriate, in working order.

Christmas Fair Teas: We are looking for volunteers to help setting up and decorating the Small Hall, serving and clearing; donations of home baking marked for “Teas” will be greatly appreciated. There is a list on the Hall Noticeboard for names. Thank you.
